Enchanted Kingdom: Never Too Old for the Magic

Pretty sure that most of us already went to an amusement park when we were just a kid. But have you gone back there now that you are a teenager or an adult?

One of the amusement parks that brings back the memories of us being a kid is Enchanted Kingdom, located at Santa Rosa, Laguna. Way back October 1995, Enchanted Kingdom opened its doors to the public. Through the years, Enchanted Kingdom remains to be the only world class theme park here in the Philippines. Basically, it lived for more than 20 years now and it has continuously improved in terms of rides and attractions that kept people coming back and make it as a place popular for field trips and destinations for special occasions.

During our semestral break for the school year 2018-2019, we decided to go back to Enchanted Kingdom with the courage and excitement to ride all the extreme rides. Here’s a guide for a day trip to the place where “the magic lives forever.”

Guide for the Rides

There are many rides to enjoy at Enchanted Kingdom that will give you different levels of thrills and excitement. Here are some of the rides that our group have tried:

Flying Fiesta. This is one of the must-rides at EK! The swinging feeling that this ride gives is exhilarating and that feeling increases because of the wave motion created by gradual lifts, drops and tilts.

Space Shuttle. Your EK experience wouldn’t be complete without riding this. It is easy to be noticed by the people and just by looking at it, you’ll already feel a different level of thrill and butterflies in your stomach. This is EK’s thrilling roller coaster ride that turns guests upside-down 6 times – 3 times forward and 3 times backward – all in two minutes!

Jungle Log Jam. Expect to get wet on this ride because this is an exciting water ride where you would have to ride a log and slide you down from a high plunge waterfall-like.

Anchors Away. This is the theme park’s pendulum swing that looks like a pirate ship which swings back and forth until it reaches a certain maximum angle. Scary but so much fun to ride!

Rio Grande Rapids. This is usually that one ride with the longest line! It is a group ride wherein you’ll experience what rubber rafting feels like. In here, be ready to really get wet because the round raft rotates constantly and equally while rushing over rough waters. Just enjoy the waves and waterfalls!

Roller Skater. This is a simpler and gentler version of Space Shuttle. It will not be boring to ride this mini roller coaster if those who are with you are really fun to be with.

Ekstreme Tower Ride. Prepare to leave your heart and soul floating in the air. This ride will literally give you that feels after taking you at a very high point and suddenly drops you in an instant.

Air Race. This ride is constituted by acrobatic planes. Each plane rotates anywhere 360 degrees while simultaneously revolving around a central tower. So much happenings in just one ride!

Tips for the Trip

When to visit:If possible, visit Enchanted Kingdom during non-peak seasons or weekdays to avoid the crowd and long lines. It would be better if you come early so that you would be able to experience more rides in a day. Park hours are usually 7-10 hours only and most of your time might be consumed in waiting in line so make sure to try the most popular rides first.

What to wear:Put on your most comfortable clothes but be mindful not to wear too revealing tops or loose clothing so as not to distract you while you enjoy your ride. There are also some rides that might get you wet so be sure to wear something with light fabric that easily dries or better yet, bring extra clothes. In connection with that, sandals or open-toed footwear are also recommended instead of rubber shoes to avoid that uncomfortable feeling once you get wet.

What to bring:Bring your cameras so you could capture the wonderful memories you’ll create in Enchanted Kingdom! However, it is important that you place them in a waterproof case in order to keep them dry when you go on water rides. It would also be practical to bring your own bottled water since the prices of these are hiked up inside the amusement park. And again, do not forget to bring extra clothes!

Where to eat:There are several booths and stalls inside the park that sell various food and drinks. Prices doesn’t have much difference from outside the park except for the bottled water. Other options are the food court near the Space Shuttle and the cafeteria-type restaurant that offers home-cooked Filipino meals. One thing that you have to take note is that outside foods are not allowed so leave them in your cars if you don’t want the guards to confiscate them.
